Nicola joined The Townscape Consultancy in October 2023 and specialises in providing heritage and townscape advice and the production of supporting documents for planning submissions and appeals for a wide range of development proposals nationwide. Nicola has a MA in History (Oxford); MPhil in Art and Architectural History (Cambridge); MA in Curating (Courtauld); PGCert in Academic Practice (Reading); and a PhD in Cultural and Architectural History (King’s College London). She is currently completing a MSc in Urban and Rural Planning and a PGDip in Historic Buildings Conservation.

Nicola has previously worked as part of the historic environment and townscape team at Montagu Evans, inputting on projects ranging in scale, from HTVIAs, large-scale masterplans, Design and Access Statements, and public inquiry work, to built heritage and historic landscape reports, setting studies, Statements of Significance, Conservation Management Plans, applications for Certificates of Immunity from Listing, and individual householder applications for Listed Building Consent and Planning Permission.

Prior to this, Nicola worked as Teaching Fellow in Museum and Heritage Studies at the University of Reading; Course Instructor at Imperial College London; Senior Curator (Art and Design) at London Transport Museum; Curator at Eton College; and Curator with the National Trust. Nicola is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
