We prefer to get involved as early as possible to provide design advice and input into the strategy for negotiations with the local authority and consultees, such as Historic England, the Greater London Authority, Historic Royal Palaces, St Paul’s Cathedral, and others.
Our work is typically divided into the following stages:
- Early feasibility
- Design development and pre-application process
- Planning submission
We produce documents to inform client decisions and to support planning submissions or appeals. Our documents are clear, focused, and proportionate to the complexity of each project, with the aim of increasing the chances of a successful outcome. These include:
- Independent design appraisals
- Initial heritage and townscape notes
- Statements of heritage significance
- Detailed heritage impact assessments
- Townscape and visual impact assessments
- HTVIA for Environmental Statements as part of EIAs
- Certificate of immunity from listing applications
- Evidence base for Local Plans
- And proofs of evidence for planning appeals, including acting as expert witness at planning inquiries
