Stratford Assembly, Newham

London Borough of Newham

The site comprises a 1980s office block and part of the site is located within the Stratford St John’s Conservation Area. The proposals comprise a 36 storey tower which will provide 716 rooms of student accommodation and an expanded site for the Academy of Excellence sixth form college. With this, public realm enhancements including a new access ramp to the Jupp Road Bridge will be provided. The key considerations were the impact of the scheme on views, its contribution to the emerging context of tall buildings, and the direct and indirect effect on surrounding heritage assets.
